Role
A primary role of the corporate services department is to provide support and administration services to the municipality as a whole. The areas in which the department provides assistance and support include:

  • Over-see the proper functioning of human resources in the District and the Local Municipalities
  • Assess the human resources capacity in Local Municipalities and implement the identified priorities as identified from the capacity assessment
  • Strengthen the HR forum in the District
  • Training and capacity building, Bursaries, Learner-ships, Internship etc.
  • Promote Employment Equity
  • Ensure compliance to the Labour Relations Act
  • Human Resource Management
  • Ensure policy implementation
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Staff Recruitment

Responsibilities
    This section is responsible for the municipality’s communication functions in the district. The Communication, Marketing & Events section is primarily accountable for the communication between the municipality and the people of Ehlanzeni, mainly through the media and other communication avenues used by the municipality.
    Professional events coordination is integral in the realization of all operational and logistical requirements included in the events calendar. The task of the events and marketing section is to be an effective tool in assisting all role players with the hosting and organizing of events to achieve the following objectives:
    • Promote and amplify the image of Ehlanzeni District Municipality
    • Attract local & international investors
    • Establish a platform for these investments to become visible
    • Ensure that the quality of events is maintained & increased
    • To share expertise with local municipalities and the constituents of Ehlanzeni
    • To coordinate/facilitate existing and new marketing opportunities and to fully realize the benefit from the use of these.

      Objectives
      The committee/secretariat work of Council and its committees; this includes co ordination of all reports, preparation of and delivery of agendas, minute taking and to ensure the execution of resolutions.

      Responsible for the safekeeping of the original agendas and resolutions of Council, keeping policy resolutions up to date and the keeping the Delegation of Powers register up to date.

      The division provides Records and Archive function to Council and is responsible for the safekeeping of all incoming and outgoing mail.

      The section further provides a support function to Council and its employees in respect of drivers, typist and switchboard functions. The section ensures the employees have a clean and well maintained area to perform their duties from with the necessary equipment available to do so.
